Al-Mutanabbi statue is a monument in Baghdad, Iraq, dedicated to the 10th century Arab poet al-Mutanabbi. The statue is located on Mutanabbi Street, a renowned book-selling area in Baghdad. The bronze sculpture, which was created by Iraqi artist Mohammed Ghani Hikmat, depicts the famous poet holding a scroll of his poetry. Al-Mutanabbi statue was erected in 1974, during the rule of Saddam Hussein, and has since become a symbol of Iraq's cultural heritage. The statue suffered damage during the US-led Iraq War in 2003 but has since been repaired. Despite being a popular tourist attraction, the statue has also been the target of vandalism and terrorist attacks in the past.
